Allama Iqbal library is organisng a training Programme on Automation of activities carried out in College Libraries . Through this programme the participants from various colleges shall be imparted a rigorous training on :
1. KOHA - Free international Open Source Software
2. SOUL - Software meant for academic and other Libraries .
The said programme shall mainly focus on practical training of the particpants and will ensure that each participant is able to handle and use of software in respective college. At end of the programme each participant shall be given copy of KOHA software and trained to intall in the concerned library besides, guidance will be provided by the Automation Division of Allama Iqbal Library whenever sought by the participants even after training programme .
All the registered participants are welcome to this programme begining from Monday, April 12 , 2010

Workshop on "AUTOMATION AND NETWORKING OF COLLEGE LIBRARIES"
A workshop on “Automation and Networking of College Libraries” going on from 5th October to October 10 , 2009 in Allama Iqbal Library, University of Kashmir. This workshop aims to focus on problems relating to automation of library services in college Libraries of Kashmir province and in view of this professionals of different colleges from various districts are participating in the workshop. The resources persons from Allama Iqbal Library and IT sector of Kashmir University are set to train participants on comprehensive use of computers in college libraries more particularly concentrating on Library Management Softwares viz., KHOA , An open source software from Willington New Zeeland and SOUL -Software for University Libraries, from INFLIBNET, Ahmedabad. Besides participants shall be imparted training on “Designing Library Web pages: Library Blogs” to render library services in a networked environment.
The said workshop is likely to prove a milestone in automating library services of colleges and a step forward in the direction of establishing network of college libraries in the valley. This workshop shall help to achieve the goal of networking all the college libraries of state so that the resources available with them are shared by the users said Mr. Reyaz Rufai University Librarian and Director of the workshop.
